About us.
Fahrsoft is a software development company specializing in FileMaker database development. Its founder and principal, Tony Miller, was a Senior Systems Engineer with FileMaker, Inc. (now Claris) from 2000 to 2008. Some of his work included demonstration software used by the FileMaker sales team and documentation such as the FileMaker Server 5.5 Best Practices and collaboration on the FileMaker Server 9 Best Practices and FileMaker Development Conventions white papers. Prior to joining FileMaker he created some notable solutions involving applications on the Palm handheld devices synchronized with FileMaker databases, allowing users to interact with their organization’s data while in a mobile environment. Since 2008, Fahrsoft has been deeply involved in developing solutions for Johnson & Johnson, Integra, Kenvue, and OceanSpray Cranberries.
Tony left FileMaker to take a sabbatical, choosing to travel with his family around Europe, Western Asia, and Northern Africa by bicycle, promoting the combination of education and adventure, as seen in The Edventure Project. He has continued to travel regularly, delivering quality software solutions while underway, but is currently rooted in Ontario, Canada.
The name Fahrsoft comes from the German word “fahr” meaning “go.” This word is used as a root for several other German words, one of which is “fahrrad” meaning “bicycle.” This root was chosen for the company name because of the obvious connection to the bicycle, but also as a reminder that people and business processes are not stagnant, but constantly in motion, therefore the software that supports them must be made to support that motion.
